Department of Civil Engineering
Civil engineering is one of the fundamental branches of
engineering whose scope expands to include many aspects of
modern life. It treats the problems of designing and analyzing civil
facilities such as housing, schools, and dwellings, and it also
addresses the problems of the infrastructure of contemporary
cities, which include building roads, bridges, airports, railways,
traffic management as well as water networks and sewage.
Moreover, civil engineering treats environmental problems and
provides solutions to sewage treatment and environmental
pollution. The field expands to include building dams, drilling wells,
canals, and solid waste management. The civil engineer is the
specialist who is qualified to address these problems and find
appropriate economic solutions to them.
